The 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season forecast was recently issued. NOAA is predicting an active or extremely active season this year. The six month hurricane season commences June 1. According to NOAA, the Atlantic Hurricane Season will have a seventy percent (70%) chance of 13 to 20 named storms with winds starting at 39 mile per hour (mph) or higher. Seven to eleven of those named storms may become hurricanes with winds of 74 mph or higher. NOAA is also predicting the 2013 Atlantic Hurricane Season could have three to six major hurricanes with winds of 111 mph or higher, resulting in Category 3, 4 or 5 hurricanes.
